If your partner or your parents ever complain that you are spending too long in bed, you can always claim you are in a strict training regime to snatch the crown from the ‘world’s laziest man’

He was declared the winner after 240 people took ‘bed rotting’ to a new level as they tried to win the ‘lazy competition’ in the middle of a shopping mall.
Competitors were motionless for hours in a ‘lie flat’ contest in Batou, Inner Mongolia, in China.
Footage shows the contestants strewn across mattresses as they tried to outlast each other, with many wearing nappies.
They were strictly prohibited from sitting up, leaving the mattress and going to the toilet.
Many brought their own blankets, power banks and food so they could stay as long as possible without tapping out.
This is not the competition’s first rodeo, it was the third edition of the event and was organised by a home-furnishings brand.
The organisers said that there was no fixed end time for the contest and it would continue until the last three winners were determined.
Well, by the 24-hour mark, a total of 186 contestants had quit, with 54 still lying flat.
The champion lasted another 8 hours – a total of 33 hours and 35 minutes – until he was crowned the winner.
He also received CNY 3,000 (£323) for becoming the ‘world’s laziest man’.
