Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, suffered a major service outage on Monday, leaving tens of thousands of users unable to access the site via its mobile app or desktop version

The platform, formerly known as Twitter, reportedly failed to load for many users early in the day. Those attempting to access X often encountered a frozen screen displaying the X logo, while some who managed to reach their feeds saw an error message reading, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”

As of reporting, X had not provided an official explanation for the disruption or a timeline for restoring full service.

Data from outage monitoring service Downdetector showed a sharp spike in complaints, indicating the problem was widespread. Users in countries including Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Germany reported difficulties using the platform.

The outage affected both mobile and desktop users, preventing timeline refreshes, posting updates, and access to other core features.

Monday’s disruption is the latest in a series of technical issues for X. In November 2025, the platform and internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare experienced a separate widespread outage, affecting users in the United States, India, and Nigeria, among other countries. That incident similarly left users unable to load timelines or post updates.

Despite repeated outages, X continues to be one of the world’s most widely used social media networks. However, the latest downtime has raised concerns among users who rely on the platform for news, business, and real-time communication.
