Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, Yobe State, has lost her twin daughters within two days.
Her daughters, Dr Hadiyah Usman Abdullahi, a medical doctor, and Aidah Usman Abdullahi, a pharmacist, both died following complications linked to sickle cell disease.
Hadiyah reportedly d!ed on Friday, October 2, after spending about a week at FMC Nguru, where she was receiving treatment following a sickle cell crisis.
She was buried on the same day after funeral prayers were held at the Emir’s Palace.
Aidah was also receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital around the same period. She reportedly improved and was discharged.
Two days after her sister’s burial, Aidah visited Hadiyah’s grave. She reportedly collapsed shortly after the visit and was taken to hospital, where she later died on Sunday, October 4.
The Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, confirmed Aidah’s death in a post on its Facebook page, describing her as ‘the second twin’ of Professor Usman.
The de.aths of the two sisters came just two days apart, leaving their mother, a senior medical professional, to mourn both daughters within the same weekend.
