The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, on Tuesday, banned the use of fireworks, firecrackers, or any other explosive device in Kwara during the yuletide season
Olaiya, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the ban had become imperative because firecrackers and other explosive devices can lead to extensive damage to properties.
He added that it can also cause severe injuries or pose a threat to the safety and security of citizens, disturbance of public peace.
“Anyone caught in this act will be made to face the wrath of the law,” the statement quoted him as saying.
