The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons said it had secured a seven-year conviction for one Chinonso Omengor, a 26-year-old, who specialised in the exportation of persons for prostitution and organising foreign travels that promote prostitution

This came barely 24 hours after the agency announced that it secured the conviction of three human traffickers in Borno.
NAPTIP disclosed this in a short statement shared on its Facebook page on Monday.
According to the agency, Omengor was arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, presided over by Justice F.A. Olubanjo, in October 2021.
The statement noted that the defendant was subsequently sentenced on November 13 to seven years’ imprisonment on each count with a fine of N10m.
She was also ordered to pay the sum of N1m as compensation to the victim.
It read, ‘A Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, presided over by Hon. Justice F.A. Olubanjo, has convicted Chinonso Omengor (26, female) for the exportation of persons for prostitution and organising foreign travels that promote prostitution, contrary to Sections 14(b) and 18 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
“The sentence was seven years imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently, and a cumulative fine of N10m, plus N1M compensation to the victim.”
