A massive blizzard is causing chaos in parts of California and Nevada, closing roads, shutting down ski resorts, and leaving more than 15,000 people without power
The Sierra Nevada region is hit hard, with strong winds and an “extreme avalanche danger” warning for areas like Lake Tahoe.

The storm is causing widespread power cuts, affecting around 15,000 customers in California and over 1,000 in Nevada.
A 75-mile section of Interstate 80 is closed due to blizzard conditions, making it tough for emergency services to reach people.
Communities at higher elevations are facing the worst, with over 3 meters (10 feet) of snow expected. Ski resorts around Lake Tahoe are closed, and major roads are blocked. Yosemite National Park is shut, and weather conditions will determine when it reopens.
People are advised to stay put over the weekend, as rescues in the snow may take time.
In other parts of the U.S., like Texas, wildfires are causing challenges for firefighters due to tough weather conditions.
