A retired army general, Brig Gen Harold Udokwere, has been murdered by armed robbers who attacked his residence in Abuja

The incident occurred at No 1, Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes, Lokogoma, around 3:00 a.m. on June 22, 2024.

The robbers demanded valuables, including jewelry and money, and shot Udokwere when he attempted to resist. A neighborhood guard was also injured during the attack.

The general was rushed to National Hospital Abuja, where he was confirmed d3ad. The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police command has promised to bring the perpetrators to justice and has extended its condolences to the bereaved family.

In a statement, the police spokesman, SP Josephine Adeh, said, “The armed robbery attack resulted in the untimely demise of one Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, at approximately 03:00 a.m. The commissioner of police reaffirms the unflinching commitment of the command to amplify the security landscape of the nation’s capital by continually adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities.”
