South Carolina declares State of Emergency as Wildfires force evacuations

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has declared a state of emergency as wildfires continue to spread across the state, burning more than 4,200 acres and forcing evacuations

The largest blaze is in the Carolina Forest area near Myrtle Beach, where approximately 1,600 acres have been affected. The fire has led to mandatory evacuations as authorities work to contain the rapidly spreading flames.

The wildfires, fueled by dry and windy conditions, have prompted officials to impose a statewide burning ban to prevent further outbreaks. Firefighters are actively battling the flames, with no reported injuries or significant structural damage so far.

Governor McMaster’s emergency declaration mobilizes additional resources to assist with firefighting efforts and provides support for affected communities.
