R&B singer Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, gave emotional testimony on Tuesday in the federal sex trafficking trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, detailing years of alleged abuse, manipulation, and coercion, according to Reuters

The 38-year-old singer, visibly pregnant and wearing a brown dress, took the witness stand as the prosecution’s star witness, recounting how her relationship with Combs, now 55, spiraled into a cycle of control and violence. She described being forced into drug-fueled, multi-day sex parties known as “Freak Offs,” which she said began as efforts to please Combs but later continued under blackmail.
“The ‘Freak Offs’ became a job where there was no space to do anything else but to recover and just try to feel normal again,” Cassie testified, explaining that the sessions could last up to four days. She alleged that Combs used videos of these encounters to threaten and control her.
Her voice broke as she recalled incidents of physical abuse. “He would bash my head, knock me over, drag me, kick me, stomp me in the head if I was down,” she told the jury, describing episodes that left her bruised and battered.
Combs faces five felony charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. If convicted, he could receive a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison, with the possibility of life.
Prosecutors argue Combs used his influence and status to operate a network of coercion and exploitation, with Ventura’s testimony serving as a central part of their case to establish a pattern of abuse and power imbalance.
Defense attorney Teny Geragos pushed back on the charges, acknowledging that Combs had “a bad temper and jealousy problems” but arguing that this did not amount to sex trafficking or racketeering.
“Domestic violence is not sex trafficking,” Geragos told the court. “He is not charged with being a flawed individual.”
Combs’ legal team claims the accusations stem from a consensual “swingers” lifestyle, asserting that Ventura and other partners willingly participated in group sexual activities.
The trial, which continues this week, is expected to feature additional witnesses.
In November 2023, Ventura sued Combs, accusing him of years of physical and sexual abuse, coercion, and forcing her into unwanted sex acts. Though the lawsuit was quickly settled, months later CNN released hotel surveillance footage showing Combs assaulting Ventura—punching, kicking, and throwing her to the ground. The video prompted widespread outrage and a public apology from Combs, who said, “I was disgusted when I did it.”
Despite denying Ventura’s new claims, Combs and his legal team are also facing multiple other lawsuits with similar allegations, all of which they have strongly denied.
