He made the announcement during the flag-off of health activation in preparation for the Drug Revolving Fund initiative and the distribution of medical equipment to general hospitals.

The governor disclosed that his administration has invested over N10 billion in upgrading healthcare infrastructure, acquiring modern medical equipment, and strengthening manpower. He also revealed the recruitment of 195 healthcare professionals—including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory scientists—who have been deployed to general hospitals statewide.

“This event is not just a ceremony—it is a declaration of our administration’s commitment to revitalizing the healthcare system of our dear state. It is a testament to our resolve to deliver on the health pillar of our People’s Charter of Needs,” Nwifuru stated.

He acknowledged the longstanding issues of underfunding, personnel shortages, and lack of equipment in the state’s health sector, declaring, “This narrative must change, and it must change now.”

Nwifuru described the newly launched Drug Revolving Fund as a “lifeline” for rural communities, ensuring a sustainable and transparent supply of essential medicines. “We have already achieved over 60% delivery of essential drugs, and the process continues until full coverage is attained,” he said.

On the distribution of equipment, the governor emphasized that the items—such as hospital beds, patient monitors, and critical consumables—are not symbolic but vital tools for life-saving care. He added that the equipment, worth over N1 billion, would significantly enhance healthcare delivery.

To maintain these investments, he called on community leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society to take ownership of public health facilities. “Accountability is not an option—it is a duty,” he stressed, warning that any misuse of public resources would be met with firm action.

Looking ahead, Nwifuru said the government plans to establish specialist hospitals in each of the three senatorial zones and is exploring digital health solutions and financing partnerships to improve service delivery.

“Today is a new dawn for health in Ebonyi,” he declared. “Let this flag-off be a call to action—to our health workers, our communities, and every stakeholder. Working together will accelerate our vision to build a system that delivers hope, healing, and health to all.”
