The entire leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at all levels has officially resigned to allow the newly formed opposition coalition to assume control of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections

Outgoing ADC National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, made the announcement on Wednesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja during the formal unveiling of the coalition, which is being positioned as a united political front to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
As part of the transition, Nwosu named former Senate President David Mark as the interim National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the interim National Secretary of the ADC.
The unveiling attracted several prominent opposition leaders, including former Vice President and PDP 2023 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, and Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State.
Also present were other influential political figures such as Senator Dino Melaye, former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, PDP chieftain Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Labour Party’s Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
Delegates from several opposition parties—including the PDP, Labour Party, and Social Democratic Party (SDP)—were also in attendance, highlighting a broad-based alliance forming under the ADC platform.
