Veekee James recounts how she fell depressed over false accusation

Fashion entrepreneur Veekee James has opened up about the emotional turmoil she faced after her wedding in October 2023, when online trolls falsely accused her of “snatching” her husband, Femi Atere, from a friend

The malicious claims, which included allegations of an intimate relationship before marriage, took a toll on Veekee’s mental health, pushing her to the brink of depression.

She recounted crying for days and isolating herself, feeling overwhelmed by the false narratives.

Veekee turned to her faith, praying for strength and guidance to navigate the ordeal. She credits her recovery to divine intervention, describing it as a “miracle.” Since overcoming the episode, Veekee has developed a thicker skin, learning to brush off negative comments.

She now prioritizes her well-being and values, focusing on raising her future children to be role models.

Veekee James said …

“There was one that really shook me. That was the period we had to ask God to help us come out of it. And immediately we came out of that, that was the end

“I think it was a story of how I stole him from a friend. And we were sleeping with each other. And so many of them are lies. It almost put me in depression. For the first time in my life, I got to understand what people who face depression feel.

I remember entering my room, and I did not come out for like two days. I was there crying and praying. And I told God, you know the stories. If you know that what they are saying is all lies, help us get through this without it ruining my brand.

“I remember waiting on God for days. And the way he brought me out was like a miracle. I have heard different stories, and it was just so easy for me to laugh about it. I remember my brother advising that I should not read comment,s but I read them to know why I am trending. To know which places I am doing too much.

“I ask God to help me and guide. To be honest, I do not plan to make a video with my kid where we are dancing and I am trying to hide them. I plan to have kids who would be role models in society.”
