Nollywood actress and politician’s wife, Regina Daniels, marked Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with a blend of humor, nostalgia, and patriotism
Regina joked in a video that Nigeria is now “older than her husband,” billionaire businessman and politician Ned Nwoko.

She fondly recalled childhood Independence Day celebrations, when streets were filled with children dressed in green and white, marching proudly and singing the national anthem.
Daniels expressed hope that the patriotic spirit of those celebrations continues today, stressing the importance of passing national pride on to younger generations.
She attempted to recite the old national anthem in the video, laughing at herself when she stumbled over the words, but remained heartfelt in her appreciation for the tradition.
She said:
“Nigeria is 65. That’s a big number—it’s older than my husband. But you know, I remember those days during Independence. The streets were flooded with kids. I’d be dressed in green. Everyone doing their march pass, singing the national anthem. I hope that’s still the same—the joy of celebrating your country. Every school would go somewhere to sing the national anthem. Thinking about it now, it was ridiculously patriotic. I love it.
They don’t even sing our national anthem now. Nigerians we hail thee, our own dear native land. Though tribes and tongues may differ, in brotherhood we stand. Nigerians all are proud to serve our sovereign motherland. Our flag shall be a symbol that truth and justice reigns. In peace and battle honored… and hand on to a flag to our children without stain.
Guys, fu.ck off. But I’ll still post this video because I don’t have enough time to do another one. I’ll make another video later.”
