Justin Bieber reflected on the birth of his son Jack Blues and admitted to ‘butting heads’ with the doula during the ’emotional’ moment
The 31-year-old singer welcomed his one-year-old baby boy with wife Hailey last year in August – with the Rhode founder, 28, also previously opening up about her traumatic labor.
The Peaches hitmaker gave rare insight of when he became a father during a recent Twitch stream this week on Monday.
Justin celebrated a career pivot when he launched his own Twitch account last week and officially became a streamer.
The performer could be seen sitting on a couch as he talked to close pals and said, ‘I remember dealing with, like – there was tension with…
‘Cause we had a doula and then we had a nurse as well, and the nurse and the doula were really kind of butting heads. Then I was butting heads with the doula.’
He added, ‘And it was just like this… and I was hella emotional because it’s like, this is like one of the most important times of your life.
‘And I remember just like, I think I was being really strong with the doula,’ Justin explained, noting that Hailey began to ‘feel anxious’ over the situation.
‘So, she was like, “You need to apologize to the doula. Like, just make it an – just clear the air.”‘
The star expressed that he did offer an apology to the doula but said that he felt like the moment was being taken away from him – and that he wasn’t able to act on his own instincts as a father and husband.
‘I was just like, “I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, my emotions are heightened, I don’t want you to take away from my moment either as the dad, like I got this too.”‘
Justin continued, ‘There are times when I need to console Hailey, and I felt like she was pushing me to the side.’
The music artist said that he felt at the time that he also had ‘good instincts’ as a father.
‘It’s like instinctual to be a dad and to like be there and like… you’re supposed to be there to help facilitate where I don’t know and if I’m like, “Hey I need you to step in and like help…”
‘But like, I needed to just…,’ Justin said as his voice trailed off, and a friend chimed in to add, ‘Be in there too,’ – to which the singer agreed.
Last year in August, Justin and Hailey announced that their baby – Jack Blues – was welcomed to the world and shared a sweet Instagram post at the time.
The singer uploaded a photo of his son’s tiny foot alongside the caption, ‘WELCOME HOME. JACK BLUES BIEBER,’ followed by a bear emoji.
