President Bola Tinubu has officially decorated Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Olatunji Disu with the insignia of his new rank as acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) at the State House, Abuja
The ceremony, brief but symbolic, held around 4:00 p.m. in the President’s office, was attended by key officials, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and outgoing IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

Tinubu pinned the IGP insignia on Disu’s uniform and praised Egbetokun for his committed service, while expressing confidence in Disu’s “operational depth, experience, and demonstrated leadership” to steer the police force through current security challenges.
Disu arrived at the Presidential Villa shortly after 3:00 p.m., marking his first official engagement in the acting role following the announcement of his appointment on Tuesday, February 24.
The decoration comes after Egbetokun resigned on Tuesday, with the President immediately accepting his resignation.
