President Bola Tinubu has postponed his scheduled visit to Ogun State, opting instead to travel to Jos, Plateau State, to console victims of recent violent attacks
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. Tinubu had been set to visit Iperu, Ogun State, on Thursday to inaugurate operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport.

The statement explained, “Instead, he will head to Jos, capital of Plateau State, to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent gun attacks, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens.”
The visit comes after a deadly assault in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, on Sunday, where gunmen on motorcycles indiscriminately opened fire, killing dozens and injuring many others. In response, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area, which was later partially lifted, though sporadic attacks on civilians continued.
The violence also affected schools, with the University of Jos ordering the evacuation of students from hostels over safety concerns.
After his visit to Plateau, Tinubu will travel to Lagos for the Good Friday holiday. The President is now scheduled to visit Ogun State on Saturday, April 4, to officially commission the cargo airport, inaugurate two commercial aircraft for export and import, and open the new Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service along with its operational vehicles.
