The Nigerian Army has confirmed that troops successfully thwarted a terrorist attack and rescued 31 worshippers abducted during an Easter service in Ariko Village, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State
In a post shared on its official X platform, the Army said the operation was launched after a distress alert reported that gunmen had invaded an ECWA Church during Easter celebrations and taken several worshippers hostage.

Upon receiving the report, soldiers were immediately deployed to the area. Working closely with residents of the Ariko community, the troops tracked the attackers and engaged them in an intense gun battle.
According to the Army, the superior firepower of the troops forced the terrorists to retreat, leading them to abandon 31 captives, including one individual who sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
Tragically, the bodies of five victims killed by the attackers were also found at the scene.
“The fleeing terrorists are believed to have sustained significant casualties, as evidenced by blood trails along their escape routes.”
