Chieftains and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) took to the streets of Abuja on Wednesday morning to protest what they describe as the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) alleged partisanship
The protest involved a procession to INEC’s headquarters in the nation’s capital.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, announcing the demonstration on his verified social media accounts, described it as peaceful and aimed at “safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship.”
He wrote: “Myself and other leaders of the ADC are peacefully protesting against the partisanship of the electoral umpire. Our patriotic stance is aimed at safeguarding our democracy and preventing the enthronement of a dictatorship.”

Prominent participants in the march included former Anambra State governor Peter Obi; factional ADC national chairman David Mark; national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; factional ADC national secretary Rauf Aregbesola; former SGF Babachir Lawal; Dino Melaye; and former deputy governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, among others.
Also present were activist and electoral reform campaigner Peter Randy-Akaah, along with a large crowd of ADC members and supporters.
