Nigerian chess champion and Chess in Slums Africa founder Tunde Onakoya has announced his achievement by becoming the first Nigerian to play a game at the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi
He revealed this on Sunday via social media, sharing his excitement about reaching the milestone inside the renowned museum.

“First Nigerian to play chess at the Louvre,” he wrote.
The moment comes shortly after his international recognition in Spain, where he was honoured with the Lideramos Youth Award for Social Impact in Barcelona — a feat that also saw him emerge as the first African recipient.
Onakoya had earlier taken to his X page to announce the award, expressing gratitude for the honour and the impact it represents.
