Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has declared his intention to return to the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections
The former lawmaker announced on his verified X account that he has picked up the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat.

Sani previously represented Kaduna Central between 2015 and 2019, before losing his re-election bid after a political fallout within the state’s ruling structure at the time.
His exit from the Senate followed a strained relationship with then-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, driven by disagreements over policies such as urban renewal programmes, mass dismissal of teachers, and concerns over the state’s rising debt.
Tensions further deepened when Sani, while serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, opposed a proposed $350 million World Bank loan requested by the Kaduna State Government.
He is now seeking a political comeback under the APC platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
