Ex-Governor Lamido’s son, Mustapha Sule Lamido has formally entered the race for the Jigawa State governorship after picking the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form
He submitted the form to the Jigawa State PDP Working Committee and other party stakeholders on Tuesday for their endorsement.
Speaking shortly after collecting the form and meeting with stakeholders in Dutse, the state capital, Lamido said he had completed all consultations and was now seeking the party’s approval to fly its flag in the 2027 election.
“We are PDP card-carrying members, and we believe in our party’s philosophy, strength, and resilience to tackle its internal challenges,” he told the gathering of party leaders and supporters.
He expressed confidence that the PDP remains the only platform capable of solving Jigawa’s pressing problems if given another opportunity to govern.
“We have confidence in our party, and we believe the people of Jigawa and Nigerians believe in it as well,” Lamido said, stressing that public trust in the PDP was still intact.
“All other political parties that got power after the PDP have failed woefully,” he said, pointing to what he described as poor leadership at the national level.
By the way, Mustapha Sule Lamido was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, so he is not picking the form for clout.
