A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of attempting to intimidate party members amid the ongoing leadership crisis within the opposition party

Sani alleged that Wike has been using his position to frustrate meetings held by rival PDP factions, describing the actions as a desperate political move.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, he claimed that such tactics were not new and had been previously used to disrupt party activities considered unfavourable to Wike’s camp.

He said members of his faction were not deterred, insisting they remained the authentic leadership of the party.

According to him, the group is currently awaiting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of a recent Supreme Court judgment, which he said would determine the next step in the leadership dispute.

Sani also alleged that Wike is aware of where PDP meetings are held but has been unable to stop them.

He further claimed similar actions were taken during the tenure of former acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, including sealing of party offices ahead of key meetings.

He said: “This is not new to us… It is his own style to do that.

“We are not bothered. He knows we have been holding meetings… So he can’t do nothing.

“What he’s just trying is the last kick of a dying horse because he knows we are now the legitimate people.

“We are just waiting for CTC of the Supreme Court judgment for them to pack their bags and baggage and leave Wadata Plaza…”

Sani maintained that the group remains confident that the legal process will eventually settle the party’s leadership tussle.
