The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he is under no obligation to disclose details of his private life, following public speculation over his recent visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda
His visit had sparked reactions online, with some questioning the political implications of the meeting. However, Wike insisted that the visit was purely personal and also a gesture of professional courtesy, stressing that it should not be politicised.

Speaking after inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja on Wednesday, the minister explained that his relationship with individuals is not dictated by party lines, adding that he does not engage in “politics of enmity.”
He said his visit to the APC chairman was simply a reciprocal act after repeated attempts by the party leader to meet him.
“Did I go there for any meeting? I mean, why would I tell you about my private life? If I come to visit you to have a drink with you, I will tell the whole world that I’m going there to have a drink with you.
“Who has ever told me when they go for their own drink? Come on, let us know that we have our freedom to associate with whom we want to sit with.”
Wike further questioned why his movements attract public scrutiny, arguing that nothing restricts his freedom of association.
“That is their business. Whatever they think is their business, it’s their headache… I don’t play politics of enmity.”
He also pointed out that he maintains relationships across political divides, recalling that former Labour Party chairman once visited him, adding that such interactions are normal and should not be controversial.
“So what I should do, if I see him, I will hide. And if he sees me, he should run away? People should continue to say whatever they want to say.
“What is important is what I am doing, whether I have achieved results or not. I am a minister… so many people come to my office. And if he has come so many times and couldn’t get me, I said okay, don’t bother. I will come and see you. What’s wrong with that?”
