No Ebola case in Nigeria - NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that no case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has been recorded in Nigeria

The centre, however, assured Nigerians that it would continue to monitor the outbreak of the virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and cases in Uganda linked to cross-border transmission.

The centre also urged Nigerians to remain calm and avoid misinformation, while adhering to preventive measures such as regular handwashing, avoiding contact with bodily fluids of sick persons, bushmeats and d.ead animals.

It also advised members of the public to report any unusual illness promptly to the nearest health facility and to rely only on verified public health updates.

Healthcare workers were enjoined by the centre to maintain a high index of suspicion for patients presenting with compatible Ebola symptoms and relevant travel history.
