Tuggar loses Bauchi APC Governorship ticket

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has failed in his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket for the 2027 election in Bauchi State

Tuggar, who stepped down from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet on March 30 to focus on his ambition, was defeated during the APC governorship primaries held in the state.

The results were announced on Saturday by the party’s Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee led by retired AIG John Abang.

According to the committee, former Bauchi State governor Mohammed Abubakar emerged victorious after polling 57,517 votes to defeat Tuggar and five other aspirants in the race.

Tuggar finished with 26,001 votes, while Nura Manu Soro secured 13,638 votes.

Other contestants included Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti, who got 13,648 votes, Kabir Baba Ma’aji with 8,157 votes, Baba Abubakar Suleiman who polled 7,688 votes, and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi who recorded 7,181 votes.
