Girona’s stay in LaLiga has come to an end after they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Elche on the final day of the season
The Catalan side needed a victory to avoid relegation following defeats for both Osasuna and Levante, but they failed to get the job done in front of their home fans.
Elche took the lead through Alvaro Rodriguez before Girona captain Arnau Martinez restored parity. The draw proved enough for Elche to secure survival, while Girona dropped out of the Spanish top division.

Osasuna also suffered a 1-0 defeat to Getafe, while Levante lost 2-1 against Real Betis. However, both clubs narrowly escaped relegation after ending the season level on 42 points with Mallorca, who cruised to a 3-0 win over already relegated Real Oviedo.
Osasuna survived thanks to goal difference after drawing both league meetings with Mallorca 2-2, while Levante stayed up due to a better head-to-head record.
The battle for survival went down to the wire, with only two points separating 19th-placed Girona from Sevilla in 13th position. Sevilla also ended the campaign with a defeat, losing 1-0 to Celta Vigo.
Celta’s victory secured qualification for the Europa League, while Getafe booked a place in the Conference League play-offs after beating Osasuna.
Despite finishing seventh, Getafe ended the season with a negative goal difference of minus six after managing only 32 goals in 38 league matches.
