An aide to the Delta State governor, Ese Obire, has said that no company operating in the state pays employees salaries as high as N400,000 or N500,000.
In a video he posted on his page, he said many of the state’s wealthy individuals have not built large-scale industries that can support higher wage structures.
According to him, most private investments in the state are concentrated in sectors like hospitality, where workers such as front desk staff and other entry-level employees typically earn around the minimum wage or slightly above it.
He noted that although some entrepreneurs are making efforts, the overall business environment still lacks enough blue-chip companies capable of offering higher-paying jobs.
He encouraged business owners in the state to invest in more productive industries that can provide better income for workers.
He said, “There is no company in Delta state that pays its staff as much as N400k or N500k as salary,” He stated while addressing concerns about wage levels and economic development in the state.
