Seyi Makinde has signed an executive order restricting commercial motorcycle (Okada) operations across Oyo State during nighttime hours as part of efforts to tackle growing security concerns and ongoing k!dnapping incidents.
Under the new directive, commercial motorcyclists will not be allowed to operate between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. anywhere in the state.

Announcing the measure on Friday, the governor said the decision forms part of broader efforts to secure the release of the abducted teachers and schoolchildren currently being held by k!dnappers.
“The operation of motorcycles will now be restricted between the hours of 10:30pm and 5:30am. We will not relent until our kidnapped teachers and school children return home safely. Every day they remain in captivity is a painful day for their families and all of us in Oyo State,” he said.
The move comes in the wake of the mass a.bduction that occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed men attacked three schools in the Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area.
