The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) stated on Saturday that the seven stars that always appear on Egypt’s national football team jersey will be removed in the current World Cup upon FIFA’s request

The Pharaohs’ jersey is famous for the seven stars that refer to the number of Africa Cup of Nations titles secured by the team.
However, the EFA said the world football governing body sent a letter, stressing that the stars that refer to continental achievements won’t be allowed to appear on teams’ jerseys at the World Cup.
Accordingly, the participating teams will be allowed to show the stars that only refer to the achievement of winning the World Cup title.
The EFA added that the world football governing body, FIFA, also asked to change the color of players’ numbers on the shirts from gold to white to be more clear.
Egypt are preparing for their fourth World Cup appearance at the current edition that already kicked off on Thursday and have been drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
The Egyptian team will be facing Belgium in their opening match today, June 15th.
