The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially announced the release of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results
The council approved the release after the conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at its national headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
According to a statement issued by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, a total of 186,291 candidates registered and sat for the examination across 12 subjects.
The candidates came from all 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, as well as five foreign countries.
NECO stated that the examination was conducted between April 20 and April 30, 2026, and was completed without major issues.
The Award Committee meeting that approved the results was chaired by Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.
Sani said the committee expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination and the processes leading to the release of the results.
The meeting was attended by principals of secondary schools from different parts of the country alongside members of NECO’s management team.
