Movie producer Stanley Ontop has publicly questioned Mr. Ibu’s wife over her recent appeal for financial support, asking her to explain what happened to the late actor’s money, properties and previous donations made by Nigerians.
His comments come just days after a public appeal was made on behalf of the late actor’s widow, claiming she and her children were struggling financially, with reports of unpaid rent, months without electricity and the children being unable to return to school because of unpaid fees.
Reacting to the appeal, Stanley Ontop said he found it difficult to understand why another fundraiser was being made barely two years after Mr. Ibu’s death.
“How can you come out just two years after your husband’s death and start asking Nigerians to contribute money for you? What exactly is the money for?” he asked.
The producer also questioned the handling of Mr. Ibu’s finances, alleging that the late actor left ₦66 million in his bank account.
“Mr. Ibu left ₦66 million in his account. Where is the money? During his burial, you claimed that he had no money in his account, yet Nigerians contributed over ₦30 million. What happened to those funds?” he said.
Stanley Ontop further alleged that more than eight of Mr. Ibu’s properties in Asaba and one in Enugu State had been sold, and asked where the proceeds from those sales had gone.
