Daddy Freeze has defended car spotters operating along Lekki roads after Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat described some of their activities as criminal and said the government would not allow them to continue
Reacting to the speech, Daddy Freeze acknowledged that some car spotters can be aggressive and create problems for motorists.

However, he argued that completely removing them from the streets without providing alternative sources of income would be unfair.
He said:
“Now here’s my take. While I agree that sometimes these car spotters can be a bit annoying and aggressive, I’ve spoken several times to YL, to Lekki car guy and to one or two of them: stop shouting and running after cars, stop standing on the road in front of cars.
“Abroad, car spotters just stand by the side of the road and take their pictures and shoot their videos and go their way.
“But I think it is unfair for the government to call them criminal because what other source of legitimate income has the government provided? What other source of legitimate income has the government provided?”
