The sister of socialite Jowizaza has blamed her brother’s social media lifestyle for what she described as the family’s current ordeal following the reported a.bduction of their father, businessman Chief Joseph Ezeokafor
The k!dnappers holding the Jezco Group chairman have increased their ransom demand from N700 million to N1.5 billion after initially agreeing to the lower amount. Reports also indicate that communication with the abductors has since stopped.
In a Facebook post, Jowizaza’s sister, identified as Blessing Ezeokafor, alleged that her brother’s display of wealth may have created the impression that the family had access to huge sums of money.
She claimed the family is heavily indebted, alleging that they owe banks billions of naira and do not have the funds being demanded by the kidnappers. She also appealed directly to the a.bductors to release their father, whom she said needs his medication.
She said:
“Why Jowizaza, my brother? You are the cause of this madness. Social media noise, when we don’t have that money. You use audio money to make hoodlums think the money is available.
“Imagine N1 billion. If anything happens to my dad, I will hold you responsible. Making noise when we are owing banks N40 billion. And these people think the money is there. See what your madness exposing has done to us.
“Fake life. Claiming what we don’t have. You are owing banks FCMB N40 billion, no hope to pay. You are owing Union Bank. You are struggling even American company I introduced you guys, Feedco. Yet you keep making noise.
“Now your madness has made people think we have money. K!dnappers, they don’t have money. It is audio money. Please leave my dad alone. Please release him, they are swimming in debt.”
