A former schoolmate of Peter Obi at Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, has recalled how the Labour Party presidential candidate stood out among his peers, even during their secondary school years
Speaking in an interview, the man named Mr Frank said Obi displayed an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age while they were both boarding students.
Frank recalled that Obi, who was then in Class Three, would travel to Lagos to purchase second-hand clothing, which he later resold to fellow students at the school.
He said Obi’s decision to engage in business at such a young age distinguished him from other students and reflected the strong sense of direction he appeared to have even then.
“While we were in school back then, Peter Obi was already ahead of us because he was into business even while we were in Class Three as boarding students. He was a trader. He would go to Lagos, buy second-hand clothes and sell to us,” he said.
“He is the most dignified Nigerian. A man of substance, truth and accountability. There are some people that are born, and they already know what they will become. Peter is in that mode,” he added.
