Media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown said her husband did not have a job during the early years of their marriage, while she took care of the family financially.
Speaking at Kayhikersclub, she said she never saw his financial situation as a reason to disrespect him. According to her, his role in the home was clear from the way he handled responsibilities and made decisions.
“Money is important, but that’s not what makes your husband a husband. It’s the ability to lead,” she said.
Morayo stated that, she was responsible for the family’s finances at the beginning of their marriage, but her husband remained actively involved in their home.
“The first few years, I was doing everything. But you would never know. Not because of what I did, but because of how he carried himself,” she said.
She said he prayed for her before she left the house, took an interest in her work and was involved in decisions concerning the family.
“When it comes to the house, he takes decisions, we discuss. So even though things are not financially, I still respected him because he was a man’s man,” she added.
She said financial provision is important, but a man’s leadership and responsibility within the home also matter.
“What is good is good, but that leadership, I believe in you. It’s important to us”, she stated.
