Actress Etinosa Idemudia said some of the v!0lence in society begins at home, with parents who normalise be.ating and fail to teach children that v!0lence is wrong.
She said repeatedly be.ating children for every mistake can make them see v!0ence as the normal way to correct others and carry the same behaviour into adulthood.
Etinosa added that while she does not support gentle parenting, extreme be.atings can cause trauma and damage a child’s future. She urged parents to do better.
Taking to her page, she wrote:
“Most mothers (n fathers) are the foundational/root cause of the mo.nsters we have in the society today
Our mothers accepted and “managed” with being beaten. They also didn’t train their sons against it because they accepted it as “normal”
Parents also beat their children for every little thing, making the children feel that that is the only way to be corrected hence passing that same culture of v!0lence/aggression to their own homes.
Hear me, I do not support gentle parenting but there are some extreme be.atings that are unnecessary, trauma inducing and damaging to a child’s future
This is a wake up call to the new generation of mothers (n fathers) we can do better.
