Bose Ogulu, Burna Boy’s mother and manager, has explained how she deals with the singer’s personality, particularly when he gets carried away during Instagram Live sessions.
Speaking with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV, Ogulu said there is a clear difference between how she communicates publicly and how her son does.
She said:
“You can always notice the difference between when I tweet and when Burna tweets.
“What I’ve come to learn is that artists like him, they’re like tapestry. If you pull at one thread too hard, everything will unravel.
“So you must make allowances for this person being himself, because it’s the same emotion that what you love about him comes from.
“Within, we do what we can. I usually grab his phone from him anytime he goes w!ld on Instagram Live.”
She believes Burna Boy’s personality is closely tied to the qualities that make his music and character stand out. She explained that trying to suppress that side of him completely could also affect the same emotions people connect with in his work.
When things get out of hand, however, she said she sometimes steps in herself including taking his phone away when his Instagram Live sessions become too much.
