Three men have been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that they used blogger Tunde Ednut’s identity to obtain more than ₦18 million from members of the public.
The defendants, Raymond Charles Yafetus, Auwal Ibrahim and Babangida Yahaya Ibrahim, appeared before Justice S. O. Ibrahim on October 15, following an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The commission accused the men of conspiracy, impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence. According to the allegations presented in court, the incident took place between April and June 2026.
The EFCC said the defendants allegedly assumed the identity of Ednut, whose real name is Adekunle Tunde Olaoluwa, and used it to open bank accounts in different parts of Nigeria.
The amount involved is ₦18,264,700, according to the charge filed against them.
One of the charges states that the defendants allegedly impersonated Ednut with the intention of defrauding members of the public and collected the money through bank accounts opened under the assumed identity.
When the charges were read in court, all three defendants pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution, led by counsel Elizabeth Alabi, asked the court to remand them in custody while the case proceeds.
Justice Ibrahim ordered that the defendants be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja and adjourned the case until November 17, 2026.
The case is still ongoing. The defendants have not been convicted, and the allegations will be determined through the court process.
