Pope Leo XIV has been cleared of cancer
In a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Dr. Luigi Carbone, the pope’s personal physician, and Professor Stefano Margaritor confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary” for the pontiff, 71, days after he was released from a hospital for lung cancer surgery.
“The final histopathology and molecular testing reports on the tissue removed during the Holy Father’s surgery were issued today,” the statement, released by the Holy See Press Office, continued.
“The results confirmed that the tumor was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. A subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that no further treatment is necessary,” the statement concluded.
