Singer Speed Darlington says he will support Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, making it clear that his decision has more to do with tribal identity than what he thinks of Obi’s intelligence.
The singer made this known in a post on his Instagram page, where he explained that being Igbo is his main reason for backing the former Anambra State governor.
According to him, he is not supporting Obi because of the intelligence he sees or hears from him, but simply because they share the same ethnic background.
In a post he shared on his Instagram, he said:
“I am going to support Peter obi for president. Not because I see or hear the intelligence coming out of his mouth. I am supporting peter obi strictly because of tribe, because he is igbo.
“The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know. Atiku and amaechi has been state men for years, what did they accomplish?. Who even wants a Fulani president?”.
Speed Darlington also took a swipe at Nigerian politicians who continue to use road construction as part of their campaign promises, questioning why such basic infrastructure is still being used to attract votes in 2026.
“Shame on all Nigerian politicians for still using road to campaign. It a big shame in 2026”, he said.
