A New York man is suing his ex-fiancée because she ended their engagement but hasn’t returned her $30,000 ring. Philip Langer, 45, proposed to Ashley Jae Chesler, 43, just three months after the couple met at a Manhattan bar.
The engagement ring he proposed with featured a 2.52-carat diamond surrounded by 34 rubies and another 55 smaller diamonds, according to court papers. The custom-made ring cost $30,000.
Chesler called off engagement months ago, but she has yet to return the flashy ring to her former fiance.
Langer claims in court papers that Chesler is required by state law to return the ring to him. He wants a judge to force Chesler to give him the ring or pay him the $30,000 it cost to make the ring.
According to her LinkedIn page, Chesler attended Colorado State University for broadcast journalism. She now works as a business development executive.
Langer’s occupation is unknown.
