Fresh controversy has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory after accusations were levelled against the senator representing the territory, Ireti Kingibe
The Chairman of the party in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Omale Sule, alleged that the lawmaker received a large amount of money worth N100m from the party’s national leadership before the last area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory.

Sule made the claim on Friday while addressing journalists in Abuja. He said members of the party structure in AMAC were unaware of the alleged funds and insisted that none of the grassroots leaders benefited from it.
“We heard that N100 million was given to Senator Ireti Kingibe from ADC National just before the FCT local government election, but we never saw anything from her.”
He also voiced dissatisfaction over what he described as poor communication between the senator and the party’s local leadership, stating that party officials in the territory have found it difficult to work with her since she assumed office.
Sule further complained that the senator rarely participates in meetings organised by the party’s leadership in the FCT, saying the situation has created a gap between the elected representative and those managing the party at the grassroots level.
“The worst of all is that she never works with the party structure. You can create your own structure outside the party’s own. Everybody, even the president of this country today has a Ward where he comes from and whenever they call for a meeting and he’s not able to attend, somehow he would send a message across.”
“But in our own case here, the only Senator we have that is our leader here in FCT is not attending meeting. She doesn’t even liase with the state chairmen.”
The allegation surfaced amid an ongoing legal dispute between the FCT chapter of the ADC and the senator. The party’s chapter in the territory had earlier approached the Federal High Court seeking an order restraining Kingibe from presenting herself as a member of the party.
Kingibe, who currently represents the FCT in the Senate, has yet to publicly react to the allegations raised by the AMAC chairman.
