Residents of Owatowose area in Owo, Ondo State, have been thrown into mourning following the k!lling of an 18-year-old boy, identified as Amos Timilehin Ariyo, who was allegedly sta-bbed to de.ath by his close friend
The incident reportedly occurred around 4 p.m. along a roadside in the neighbourhood, leaving residents shocked and devastated.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was attacked by the friend, who allegedly sta-bbed him in the chest without any known provocation before fleeing the scene.
Family sources said on Friday that the deceased had only recently recovered from a fever and was on his way from his mother’s residence to her nearby shop when the suspect approached him.
Neighbours in the area said the two boys were known to be close friends and were often seen together, noting that nothing appeared unusual as they walked together shortly before the incident.
However, the calm atmosphere reportedly turned tragic moments later when Amos screamed in pain and collapsed after he was sta-bbed, while the suspect allegedly fled immediately after the attack.
The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owo but was confirmed de.ad on arrival by a medical doctor.
