Rotimi Amaechi has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, describing the process as unfair and unacceptable
In a statement shared on his X account, Amaechi said he “I REJECT THE CONCOCTED RESULTS OF THE ADC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES,” insisting that the exercise was marred by alleged voter disenfranchisement across several parts of the country.

He stated that he had earlier made it clear he would only accept the outcome of the primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, adding that he stood by that position.
According to him, the credibility of the exercise was deeply compromised by claims that a large portion of party members were not allowed to participate in the voting process.
He further criticised the conduct of the primary, arguing that a party which accuses the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission of electoral malpractice cannot be seen engaging in similar practices internally.
He wrote:
“There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results. Then what makes us different from the others? The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion.”
“A party that criticizes the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results, and other electoral malpractices that leads to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. This is not acceptable!”
Amaechi maintained that the ADC was meant to serve as a credible alternative platform that promotes fairness, inclusion, and national unity, but insisted the process did not reflect those values.
