The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a sweeping victory in the Rivers State local government elections held on Saturday, winning 20 out of 23 councils
Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Dr. Michael Odey, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.

According to Odey, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the remaining three councils. Certificates of return will be presented to all winners on Monday, September 1.

- Abua/Odual – Ofori Owolabi (APC)
- Ahoada East – Solomon Achoma (APC)
- Ahoada West – Eugene Epelle (APC)
- Akuku Toru – Bob Fubara (APC)
- Andoni – Lucky Promise (APC)
- Asari Toru – George Onegiyeofori (APC)
- Bonny – Abinye Blessing Pepple (APC)
- Degema – Michael John Williams (APC)
- Eleme – Obarilomate Ollor (APC)
- Emohua – Chidi Loyd (APC)
- Gokana – Dekor Confidence (APC)
- Ikwerre – Charles Wobodo (APC)
- Khana – Bariere Thomas (APC)
- Obio/Akpor – Gift Worlu (PDP)
- Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni – Shedrach Ogbogu (PDP)
- Ogu/Bolo – Vincent Nemioboka (APC)
- Okrika – Akuro Tobin (APC)
- Omuma – Obasi Uchechwuku (APC)
- Opobo/Nkoro – James A. James (APC)
- Oyigbo – Okechukwu Akara (APC)
- PHALGA – Allwell Ihunda (PDP)
- Tai – Mbakpone Okpe (APC)
This outcome marks the first time the APC has achieved such dominance in Rivers State since the return of democracy in 1999.
