Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP in a blockbuster deal worth around £63.7 million, including add-ons

The 26-year-old forward has penned a five-year contract with the Gunners and will wear the iconic No. 14 jersey, once famously worn by Thierry Henry.
Gyökeres joins after a sensational season at Sporting, where he scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions. His overall record at the Portuguese club stands at 97 goals in 102 games, making him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe last season.
The deal reportedly includes an initial fee of £54.8 million, with an additional £8.7 million in performance-related add-ons.
Despite Gyökeres having a £85.5 million release clause, Sporting agreed to a reduced fee after the player and his representatives waived their agent commission. Coventry City, his former club, will receive 10% of the profit from the transfer.

Gyökeres becomes the latest addition in a busy summer for Arsenal, with the club also bringing in Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Kepa Arrizabalaga. The total summer spending now exceeds £200 million, underscoring the club’s ambition to challenge for the Premier League title after finishing second for three consecutive seasons.
The Swedish international is expected to make his debut during Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Hong Kong, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur. His arrival gives manager Mikel Arteta a proper No. 9 for the first time since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
