After facing backlash over allegations that he staged his recent giveaway — which saw a young woman from Ogun State flown to South Africa for a series of luxury surprises — content creator Asherkine has addressed the controversy
In a detailed social media statement, Asherkine dismissed claims that the encounter was fabricated for views. He noted that some people struggle to accept that a young adult living and working in Ogun could experience such surprises simply because she “looks too good” for her job.

He pointed out that the woman has a sister in Lagos, just a two-hour drive away, and emphasized that he himself has relatives in Ogun, making the scenario entirely plausible.
Reflecting on his own journey, Asherkine shared how he started working at 17, filming entertainers at events to build his career, and juggled multiple jobs at 20 while documenting performances for artists like Yhemolee, Asake, and Ashidapo. He credited this early hustle for his growth as a content creator and explained that success comes from years of dedication.
“As much as I understand agenda-agending, I won’t let some silly takes ruin this one for her or undermine the videos I create,” he said. He also clarified that, unlike many of his videos that cover a single day, the South Africa giveaway video spanned an entire week following their first meeting, countering claims that it was a 48-hour livestream.
