Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has debunked reports suggesting he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race, describing the claims as completely untrue
The reports had alleged that Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, stepped aside in favour of Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.

It was also claimed that Atiku agreed to support Obi for a single term to address concerns over regional balance.
Those claims were firmly denied by Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, who dismissed the story as fabricated. Responding on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the report on his verified X account and wrote, “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
The denial comes amid separate reports that Peter Obi is preparing to officially join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
