Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar met with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Abuja on Saturday, uniting two leading opposition figures from Nigeria’s most recent presidential election.
The election, which was won by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saw Atiku, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, finish second, while Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party drew strong support in Kano, securing roughly one million votes in a state traditionally loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Atiku shared that the meeting was a courtesy visit and centered on discussions about the nation’s current state.
“This evening, I received the former Governor of Kano State and the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on a courtesy visit. We had a robust discussion on the state of the nation. -AA”
The encounter has sparked intense discussions online, with political observers and party supporters weighing the potential implications of this high-profile engagement.
