The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away at the age of 91

The highly respected monarch d!ed on Sunday, just hours after the announcement of the death of his longtime friend, former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London after a prolonged illness.
Born on May 10, 1934, Oba Adetona was installed as the Awujale of the Ijebu Kingdom on April 2, 1960. Until his d3ath, he was the traditional ruler of one of Nigeria’s most prominent kingdoms and a proud member of the House of Anikinaiya.
With a reign spanning over six decades, Oba Adetona was one of the longest-serving monarchs in Nigerian history, widely revered for his wisdom, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the cultural and social advancement of the Ijebu people.
